Growing your automotive business with video marketing

automotive media example

Video marketing is by far the most impactful way to connect with your audience. Video is a universal language to your customers whether you're an automotive detailer, wrap and PPF studio, performance shop, body shop, or dealership.

The Essentials for great aUTOMOTIVE video marketing should:

  1. Add Value: Don't make your video marketing into a cheesy insurance sales pitch. Instead, add value for your customers by explaining what you sell, telling a story, or entertaining them.
  2. Engage & Build an Audience: Again, don't make it exclusively about sales. You're building a relationship with customers, and that means trust. That trust converts into purchase decisions and loyalty.
  3. Improve SEO: Adding video to your website boosts SEO (search engine optimization) by increasing the pages quality and increasing the amount of time customers spend engaging with page. Google loves video. It can be quite easy to dominate a small local space if your shop is the only one integrating video into their website. In e-commerce video is almost essential to be competitive.
  4. Drive Sales: Effective video marketing converts. It builds credibility and trust with customers, especially with high-ticket or complex products. The more expensive the purchase the more likely it is that your potential customer is considering multiple options.

If your business can accomplish all those things it gives you a significant advantage over local and online competition. Customers will find your business first, trust you more, and share your content.

Are there different types of video marketing?

Yup - a lot of them. Here are a few (including examples) we see perform best in the automotive industry.

  1. Company culture video - Who are you? What's it like at your business? How did your business start? How are you different?
  2. Feature/Product video - Place focus on a product/service you want to sell, a new product/service you've started offering, or show off something cool your business has done.
  3. Explainer video - What just happened? Speak as a source for news in your industry.
  4. User generated video - Show everyone your product in action from a relatable perspective.
  5. Event recap video - Did you host or sponsor a car show? An event at your business? Showcase it to grow the next one's attendance.
  6. Tutorial / How to video - Educate your customers - don't just sell them. They'll gain a better understanding of your products and share these videos as info sources.
  7. Short-form social media video - Short, engaging, and relevant content that can be posted across multiple platforms like YouTube Shorts, Instagram, and TikTok.

What type of video marketing is right for your business?

Long story short - it depends on your goals and budget. There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution to video marketing.

Are you:

  • Trying to take over your local market with a detailing or wrap shop?
  • Adding E-Commerce to your existing performance shop?
  • Starting a new performance shop and trying to make an impact?
  • An established manufacturer trying to showcase a new product?
  • An automotive lifestyle brand trying to go viral?
  • Looking to build a long-term audience and community?

A video marketing solution will look very different for each of these situations.

Process & Pricing

The first step is to schedule a production estimate and discovery meeting with our team to establish a statement of intention - the goal and method for your production. Depending on the depth of your production we may also need to draft a general storyboard, propose some locations, a rough script, or a required date for the final deliverable.

Once your approval is received we start official pre-production. This involves finalizing your storyboard, locations, script, props, and any talent needed. This is generally followed by scheduling shooting days; however, even with the best planning and team sometimes things happen that are out of anyone's control like broken vehicles or poor weather. That said, our production team can think on their feet and we've yet to meet a challenge or setback we haven't been able to turn around to the satisfaction of our clients.

We're also happy to have clients or their team members join us on productions - in fact we prefer it. This helps us give you a sense of how work is progressing and allows for instant feedback.

In post-production you'll receive regular updates and a final draft. You'll also have the ability to request revisions, but keep in mind that what may seem like a small change can take a significant amount of time, and sometimes deviate from the initial scope of the project.
